Planning to pursue a degree in ocean engineering? Below is a description of colleges and universities in the United States that offer niche programs specifically for ocean engineering. There are a number of programs that roll ocean engineering into other programs such as civil and environmental engineering, mechanical engineering; however the only ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited programs are shown here. If you want to become a licensed ocean engineer (which you should!), you’ll want to attend a school that meets ABET requirements. All information presented here comes from the school’s website and is true as of the time of this posting.
NOTE: this article does not rate these programs, they are listed alphabetically. If you see a school that looks like it might be a good fit, we recommend you also check out several school ranking web pages such as Universities.com Best Ocean Engineering colleges in the United States, U.S. News Best Colleges, Forbes Top Colleges or Niche.com which ranks colleges based on statistics from the US Department of Education. If you are interested in an OE program that is a Green College, take a look at the Princeton review for Green Colleges.
